PERSONAL INJURY CASE - HOW MUCH IS WHIPLASH WORTH?

The most common personal injury case currently handled by solicitors involves neck injuries caused as a result of a road traffic accident. The amount of award depends on the severity of the injury as follows:

  • Severe;
    • Neck injury associated with incomplete paraplegia or resulting in permanent spastic quadriplegia or severe restriction with intractable headaches
      £75,000
    • Injuries which give rise to disabilities of considerable severity
      £33,000 to £65,000
    • Severe damage to soft tissues resulting in significant disability of a permanent nature

    • Fractures or dislocations that cause severe and immediate symptoms and may necessitate spinal fusion with limitation of activity
      £12,500 to £16,000
  • Moderate;
    • Whiplash or wrenching with disc lesion resulting in cervical spondylosis, serious limitation of movement, permanent pain and increased vulnerability
      £7,000 to £12,500
    • Acceleration or exacerbation of pre existing symptoms of unrelated condition with complete recovery within 2 years, including moderate whiplash injury with increased vulnerability
      £3,750 to £7,000
  • Minor;
    • Minor soft tissue and whiplash injuries with moderate symptoms and recovery within 2 years
      up to £3,750
